SEO Tips to Help Your Business Rank on Google

Here’s the honest truth, SEO is much easier than you think and it can be so easy to pay thousands to SEO agencies a month and get next to nothing in return.

I’m not saying all SEO agencies deliver no results but believe me, if this is the case you may as well do it yourself and save a few quid in the long run, but I get it maybe you just don’t have the time so you outsource it, so make sure you research companies, ask for case studies and get real FACTUAL results shown to you before you spend money with them!

But, for many businesses paying for SEO isn’t an option.

So to help you I have put together some fundamental guidelines on the basics and it’s written in plain english, not techie stuff! There may be some techie stuff but not a lot, I promise to keep it simple.

So lets get started!

Are you ready to grow your business and rank on Google?

Grow your online business using these simple SEO tips.

Before I go straight into things, let me first provide you with some areas where you can brush up your SEO knowledge, because this blog would be never ending if I explain all the areas of SEO and how to do it, and quite frankly I would be lying to you if I said I could.

There just is so much to cover, so in summaries below I will explain these areas with a title, a description of around 200 ish words per section and some links for more information on these SEO areas.

Website URL Domain Authority

So let’s start with Domain authority, also known in the SEO world as DA.

So, a company called Moz (Also known as SEOmoz) created Domain Authority which is a Search Engine Ranking Score to predict how well a domain would rank in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).

To put it simply DA (Domain Authority) is a score between 1 – 100 (100 being the highest) and this is calculated on a variety of metrics, including the total links from (Other websites) going to your own website, including links to your root domain.

If you’re wondering what a linking root domain is, here is the answer.

“What are Linking Root Domains?” When a site links to another one or more than one time in Search Engine Optimisation, site A is said to be a linking root domain; the plural, linking root domains is the total number of separate links that link once or more than once to a given site.”

Now, Google class a link from one website to another as a vote, but be careful you’re not getting links from low DA websites to your own or a website that is not relevant to your niche! For example, your website is a local Norfolk Website Design business getting link traffic from a pet shop website, this will negatively impact your rankings and lower your domain score.

Your DA can be influenced and grown using a number of methods but please be patient, it takes TIME and Neil Patel explains this including how you can boost your DA by 5 points in 2 weeks.

To be honest, if anyone is going to explain how to boost your DA there is no person better than Neil Patelthere’s nothing wrong a little bigging up there.

You can view a website’s DA by using MozBar (a free Chrome-extension) to view your own DA or competitors, Link Explorer (a backlink analysis tool), the SERP (Search Engine Results Pages) Analysis section of Keyword Explorer.

There are other alternatives and highly rated by Neil Patel such as Uber Suggest and AHREFs Backlink Checker

SEO Audit and analysis tools

Now you have viewed your Domain Authority it’s time for you to spend some time cleaning up your backlinks profile and following Neils top tips to grow your DA by 5 points. But, here is the next stage.

It’s time to analyze your websites SEO.

The SEO covered in an SEO audit would include On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO, and Technical SEO.

There are three SEO areas here which are all areas to help your business rank, so let’s start with On-Page SEO!

But firstly, go over to SEO CHECKER or SEOPTIMER SEO Audit and put your domain name into the audit box and simply click audit!

On-Page SEO, what you should know!

On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing individual website pages in order to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic in search engines like Google.

On-page refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized.

For those new to on-page SEO, we highly recommend reading up on On-Page Ranking Factors by Moz

Simply put, when wanting to optimize the on-page SEO efforts you need to focus on the following for EACH page or post and you can read these by following an easy-to-understand infographic provided by Backlinko.

Quick tip! Optimize your copy to be human-friendly, do not optimize it for search engines alone! A website with less content that is optimized for humans to read is likely to be better ranked than a page optimized only for the search engines in the SERPS.

Optimize your page content, including Google Titles and Descriptions to be human-friendly but do not forget to include your important keywords.

An example below shows a human-friendly title and description and the other, well it could be worked on! I was searching for Men’s blue shoes.
